Designing for independent living of stroke patients
This is a design project that I am currently working on independently with the online class Design in Healthcare: Using Patient Journey Mapping on EdX. In this class, I am learning to apply the method of patient journey to the designing of the work system that supports stroke patients in independent performing of daily tasks (e.g. cooking).
The first step in patient journey mapping is to understand the current care system surrounding the patient, and to identify actors (human and non-human) that have impacts on the patient’s health care.
An interview was performed with a physical therapist at a rehabilitation center who is familiar with the patient rehabilitation process after suffering stroke. The interview data were used to created the interaction map between actors as shown below.
